About Supported Independent Living (SIL)

What is Supported Independent Living?

Supported independent living (SIL) lets you live with other people or on your own. Offering 24/7 support to build independence and community connections.

Supported independent living involves assistance with daily everyday task. We offer a safe, comfortable and inclusive living arrangement. Our focus is empowering our participants to live independently while providing the necessary support and assistance to enhance their quality of life.
It includes:

  • Assistance with personal care routine the way you want to be supported
  • Active overnight or sleepover support
  • Assist with medication
  • Assist with household task e.g preparing meals, cleaning and more
  • Assist out in the community e.g. grocery shopping, appointments and community connections.

Supported Independent Living is help with day-to-day tasks around your home so you can:
● be independent
● learn new skills

Most participants who get SIL funding live with housemates who also have SIL funding.

SIL pays for a support person to help you with day-to-day tasks, such as:
● personal care, like showering and getting dressed
● eating and cooking meals

SIL is for participants who need support with tasks during most of the day!

If one of your goals is to be independent at home, your NDIS plan can pay for home and living support
